Oakridge Weekly Communication for Grade 304/19/24
What we’re learning: | Questions you can ask your child about their learning: | What you can do at home together: |
Math: This week we are learning to interpret word problems. ELA: We started our novel study unit this week. Third graders are began reading Stella Diaz has Something to Say or Flora and Ulyssess Phonics: We continued r-controlled syllables and learned that the letter w changes the sound of ar and or. SEL:The students learned that all relationships are purposeful and evolve over time. Science: This week we are identifying components of soil. |
In a hypothetical word problem what would the equation be? Who is the protagonist in the novel you are reading? What does warn mean? What does worn mean? What is one relationship that has changed in your life? Name one component of soil. |
Create and solve word problems. Start your own novel study at home. Pick an age appropriate chapter book and read a set number of chapters every night! Practice words that include r controlled syllables that start with a w such as: award, war, warm, wart, and swarm. Discuss the different relationships your student has with others that may include family, peers, neighbors, and doctors. D ig up soil and examine it. |
