Car Rider Arrival/Dismissal

Oakridge and APS encourage students to walk or ride the bus to and from school. We continue to work closely with Arlington County, Arlington Public Schools, and our community on our arrival/dismissal patterns for Oakridge students who are driven to school.

The section of the street directly in front of the Oakridge (24th St. S) will be closed to traffic between 8:30am – 9:00 a.m. and 3:30pm – 4:00 p.m.

  • Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 who ride in cars will be dismissed to a fenced area behind the school.
  • If you have PreKindergarten, Kindergarten, 1st, and/or 2nd grade students, you will need to have your older student pick them up in their classroom (and send the classroom teacher an email alerting them of this dismissal routine).
  • Students will be dismissed by an Oakridge staff member to waiting cars. Please be respectful to Oakridge staff and follow their instructions.

Please help your students learn their method of dismissal.  Students are dismissed as “bus riders, walkers, car riders or Extended Day.”
