Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI) – This year all VPI applications must be submitted to the Early Childhood Office and APS Welcome Center between 2/1/17 and 4/18/2017. Applications will not be accepted at schools. The Early Childhood Office and APS Welcome Center are located at 2110 Washington Blvd, Suite 100, Arlington, VA 22204. The office hours are 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday – Friday. The Early Childhood Office and Welcome Center will stay open until 7:00 PM on Thursdays throughout the application window.You can reach the Welcome Center by phone at 703-228-8000.

Heelies Alert. Heelies (those sneakers with roller wheels on the bottom) have been outlawed at Oakridge due to safety issues.
Pokemon Card Update. Pokemon cards may only come out of students’ backpacks during recess.
Oakridge Spirit Wear Sale. The PTA is hoping to get rid of old stock. T-shirts are $10 and sweatshirts are $15. email jmplatz@aol.com if you want to buy 1 or 2 or 3!

Save the Date! Once again, in conjunction with the Science Fair, we will be having our annual STEAM Night (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math activities) at Oakridge. The evening event is scheduled for Tuesday March 7th, from 7:00pm – 8:00pm. Families are invited to come see science fair projects and participate in a variety of hands-on STEAM activities led by teachers and volunteers. If you’d like to volunteer your time and expertise and help run a STEAM station please contact me. This is a fun, family event because all of YOU volunteer each year! Please help spread the word to new staff members. The more teacher volunteers the better! |
