10 crew members of the USS Arlington will be back at Oakridge this Thursday, October 24. This year they will be pairing up with 4 different grade level classes for 4 different USS Arlington ship building challenges using the design process. For example, Kindergarten will need to design and build a ship out of 1 piece of aluminum foil that will hold as many crew members (teddy bear counters) as possible. 2nd grade will need to construct a USS Arlington ship that hold as many amphibious vehicles as possible using a variety of materials, but the materials cost money and they need to be cost efficient. Part way through the 5th grade challenge, the engines on their ships suddenly stop working and our engineers must devise another source of power using materials provided. It should prove to be a fun and educational morning!
Dr. Wright visited the ship last summer, see some of her pictures below!
