• Apply Today: Submit your application online through SchoolMint by January 16, 2026 at 4 p.m.
• Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI) Applications: Contact us to schedule a screening phone call for VPI programs, 703-228-8665 (English) or 703-228-8000 option 1 for Spanish.

We’re here to help! Contact APS with any questions about the application process or the lottery.  Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI) is a free program for four-year-old children.  Students engage in enriching educational experiences, explore learning materials and new ideas, and build their skills as they prepare to enter kindergarten.   Call 703-228-8665 (English) or 703-228-8000; option 1 (Spanish) to see if your family is eligible for the VPI program!    Primary Montessori is a full-day Montessori PreK program for students ages 3 to 5 and is offered at 5 elementary schools. All 3-year-olds are entered gradually so they can have an opportunity to adjust to the classroom at their own pace. Learn about Montessori at APS through our annual video presentation, and a day in the life of Montessori.
